Trending Halloween Decor: Go Glam

Pumpkins, ghosts, and creepy-crawlies are the obvious staples in any Halloween decor these days, but here’s a trend we’re seeing: glamorous Halloween. Our Halloween Style Challenge participants show us how to kick your ghosts and goblins up a notch with a spooky yet classy theme. Above, Monica Benavidez, of Monica Wants It, contrasts the black and gray color scheme on a crisp white brick fireplace. Monica added touches of silver, gold and sparkle to the pumpkins and candle combo for a glam twist.

Veteran Style Challenger Carrie Waller, of Dream Green DIY, played up the color game in her bewitched dining room. In Halloween decorating ideas, Carrie stuck to the green, purple, and black theme and repeated these sparkly color elements throughout her table top and bar car decor. To get this color-coordinated look, Carrie has a neat hack. She deconstructed a couple of spooky wreaths and used the pieces to create this consistent color scheme. The white pumpkins add a touch of class to this perfectly coordinated tablescape.

Jennifer Griffin, of Dimples & Tangles, created a completely spooky forest in her living room! Pulling together a palette of orange, black and brown, Jennifer created a flawless designer look in her Halloween decorations. Layers of twigs, acorns, greenery, lanterns and pumpkin accents create a fabulous backdrop for a trendy black and white ikat pillow and a plush brown hide rug. Jennifer’s “#beware” mantel sign is the perfect moody backdrop behind the DIY chandeliers. She even dressed this spooky tinsel vulture in a top hat and bow tie!

Blogger and DIYer, Katrina Sullivan, of Chic Little House, stuck with a black theme in her dining nook setup. With touches of black from the table to the ceiling, Katrina pulls this classy look together with just a few special accents: painted pumpkins, apothecary jars, black crows, and creepy rats. The creative touch that pulls the whole look together is the creative “EEK” lettering that Katrina filled with moss, black roses, and a couple of spiders. What a fabulous DIY touch!

We expect to be seeing more glam Halloween decorating as this trend expands. Halloween has grown up, and glitter, sparkle and non-traditional color are definitely in.
