A do-it-yourself table setting for Thanksgiving

The focal point of Thanksgiving is the dinner table. First in importance comes cooking up a big spread of delicious food for the feast. But to make it festive, you need decorations for the Thanksgiving table. Home Depot associate BostonRoots is known for her terrific holiday decorations. Here’s a look at her Thanksgiving centerpiece ideas that are easy to make and will add lovely fall color and texture to your holiday table.

The materials she used are inexpensive and easy to find. The centerpiece you see above uses a strip of burlapflameless candles, some one-quart sized metal paint cans and some fall mums.

The bare metal paint cans might be the most inspired idea for the Thanksgiving centerpiece setting. They make the centerpiece seem a bit more informal and rustic than most Thanksgiving centerpieces, and it’s nice how the shiny finish reflects the autumn colors and candle light.

BostonRoots says she filled each paint bucket about three quarters full with water. She trimmed the mums to be about even and to sit about four inches above the rim of the paint tins. You can see that she also added some hosta leaves to add some green to contrast with the lovely yellow and orange mums.

The burlap runner gets a festive touch of fringe merely by pulling a few of the strings of burlap from the border of the burlap strip. It’s so simple, but look at how it dressed the runner up a bit.
