Schlage Door Hardware
We moved into our Charlotte, North Caroline home nearly three years ago, and since then I have re-worked almost every detail of the house. One thing that I continued to put off was changing out the incredibly dated and worn bright yellow brass hardware on all of our doors. Along with them being an eyesore at every turn, they were beginning to lose functionality as they were nearly 25 years old. When I saw this beautiful and well-designed antique brass finish door hardware by Schlage, I knew that it was time to bite the bullet and replace our door knobs and levers.
Over 27 knobs, levers and deadbolts later, I see now what an impact such small design elements have on the overall feel of our home. The beautiful antique brass finish adds to the style of the home, but is clean and modern and doesn’t take away from any of my existing design elements. You also really don’t realize how desperately your hardware needs to be changed until you feel how smooth and quiet new Schlage door hardware functions!
Here’s a peek into how these beautiful new pieces fit right into our home and really elevate the design factor in each space!
Front Door Hardware
For the front door I chose this antique brass front door handleset– the Camelot Antique Lever Handleset— and couldn’t be more pleased. It’s clean and modern, but offers high style with the waterfall grip and also comes with a maximum security deadbolt.
My daughter and I spend lots of time on the front porch during the day, and to get back in we always had to wiggle the front door hardware to open the door. Pretty embarrassing!
Let’s just say our front door really got a face-lift with this beautiful new hardware and the door opens so smoothly now.
Interior Door Hardware
For the interior (non-locking) doors, I chose a stylish oval-shaped door knob from Schlage– the Sienna, in the same antique brass finish. I love the shape of the knob; it actually makes gripping the handle easier and more functional than our old round ones.
The Old Door Hardware
To give you an insight as to what they looked like before, they were ’90s builder grade and bright yellow brass. They were also showing major signs of wear on the finish as you can see below and a lot of the interior hardware was really starting to lose functionality. I also found that the bright brass really took away from the polish of our home and cheapened the decor.
Bedroom and Bathroom Door Levers
For the interior doors with locks, I chose door levers — the Elan Antique Brass Bed and Bath Lever, also from Schlage. All of these doors had knobs before, and I have to say we all love the move to the lever. They are much easier for our toddler to navigate, and I really love the style that they add to our bedroom and bathroom doors, really making them look custom.
As you can see, our home is filled with color and pattern and I love the way the antique brass Schlage hardware doesn’t take away from that, yet just adds to it!
Thank you guys for coming on a home tour with us and checking out our new Schlage door hardware!
