Cheery Fall Front Door Decorations

It doesn’t take much to create a cheery fall front door– just a few items carefully placed, and color coordinated. These front door decorations adorn the home of April Hoff, who writes the design and DIY blog House by Hoff.

This is part of our Harvest and Halloween Style Challenge series here on the Home Depot Blog. We sent April a mystery box of fall and harvest decorations for her front porch, and then stood back while she did her fall decorating magic.

We love the blue, yellow and black palette of her fall front door decorations. It all started with a new coat of paint for her door.

I’m so excited that The Home Depot invited me to participate in the Harvest and Halloween Style Challenge this year! My front stoop was in need of a little TLC, so it was the perfect time and excuse to give it a little fall makeover!

Front Door Makeover

The first step to this front stoop makeover was to give my front door a fresh coat of paint. I chose Behr’s Dolphin Blue as my new door color, and I love it! I was looking for a blue that had gray undertones, and I think I nailed it!

I also added Everbilt’s Oil-Rubbed Bronze Door Knocker to dress up the door and give it some much-needed character.

I picked up these gorgeous yellow zinnia bushes and 18 in. dark gray square planters at my local Home Depot store. I stacked the zinnia bushes on top of a paver inside of the planter to make them appear taller. I love the way they look with the coir door mat. This blue, yellow, and black color palette is a tried and true favorite of mine.

To complete the fall front door decorations, I added the fall pumpkin wreath.

The front stoop flows nicely into the interior look and color scheme of my house.

I love to add chalkboards wherever I can. Don’t they add a fun punch of character to the planter boxes?

Stacked Fall Pumpkin Topiary from The Home Depot

When my materials for the Harvest Style Challenge arrived, this 25-in. Stacked Fall Pumpkin Topiary was included. I loved the size and stacked appearance of this piece, but knew I’d want to give it my own spin.

I spray painted it off-white, added some fall sprigs, and placed it on top of this Dark Flame Wood Bucket.

The bucket serves as a rustic-looking base for the pumpkin topiary and gives it some height. Since I can’t fit much onto my small front porch, creating height is crucial to styling it. I can get more bang for my buck and fit more pieces onto the stoop if I layer items of various heights from tallest to smallest.

I also received the Wood Harvest Lantern and package of foam pumpkins. I love lanterns, and I especially love the wood and metal look of this one. I think it will look great styled for every holiday! I added a striped burlap bow to the lantern and filled it with the foam pumpkins.

It’s a good thing I have a good watchdog to help out around here. She’s the cutest thing on the stoop, no?
